Sheldon Cheng
Sheldon Cheng (Senior Associate) focuses on climate and blended finance, climate risk management, sustainable investing, and business development. Sheldon’s work at CFA has included conducting a market study of the climate data and analytics industry, structuring a green blended finance facility, and designing climate-resilient and climate mainstreaming projects in developing countries. He has also supported the development of climate strategies, products, and internal operational procedures to advise Multilateral and National Development Bank clients to maximize climate benefits and synergies and to facilitate positive socio-economic growth.
Prior to CFA, his experience in climate resiliency included developing business plans for off-grid solar investments in West Africa; landscape mapping, economic analysis, and business development for airborne energy kites with Google X; consulting for sustainable smallholder farming in Haiti; and constructing case studies for climate adaptation and resilience investment in the agriculture and supply chain sectors. Before focusing on climate finance, Sheldon worked for a boutique investment bank in Hong Kong, advising on a range of projects including IPOs, M&A transactions, and derivative offers.
Sheldon holds a dual MBA and Master of International Affairs from Columbia University, with a focus on Global Energy Management and Policy and Climate Change and Business, and a BSc in Economics from University College London.
