Lisa Churchill is an independent climate change expert with 25 years of experience in the engineering field and deep expertise in leading climate resilience initiatives for public and private sector clients.   She has worked with numerous municipalities, ranging from large urban areas such as Washington DC and Boston, MA to smaller coastal communities, large asset owners and operators (MBTA, Logan International Airport, Mass General Brigham, Army National Guard), private clients (REITs, developers and tech companies), multi-laterals (World Bank and InterAmerican Development Bank) and non-profits.  Through this experience, Lisa has gained the ability to work across a continuum ranging from site-specific needs to city-wide, national and international portfolios. She is familiar with the level of detail and types of information that are needed to solve for resilience at each of those scales, as well as the beneficiaries of those improvements.

Lisa has published original research through the Urban Land Institute that examined the impact of climate risk on municipal finance, measures of public fiscal health and the real estate market. She currently serves as a member of the United Nations Working Group (Climate Insurance Linked Resilient Infrastructure Finance) to solve for long-term insurance and underwriting for climate change, is an Advisory Board Member for the Stone Living Lab Foundation that focuses on solving for climate change within urban environments using natural-based solutions, a member of the American Flood Coalition, and part of the ASTM Working Group to standardize climate resilience assessments in buildings. She is a co-editor of an upcoming book to be published by the Association of Civil Engineering Companies (ACEC) this fall: Climate Change and the Built Environment which outlines key trends and emerging innovations within the field.

Lisa graduated from Colby College, Maine with a BA in Geology-Biology and holds a MS degree from the University of Michigan where she trained as a paleontologist with a focus on mass extinctions and resilient systems.  She is also a registered Professional Geologist.
